Life in the ghetto isn’t all bad, just different, before dark anyway.

Everywhere I read about the ghetto its always filled with all the bad things, the crime, violence, desperation and corruption is all you ever hear about concerning the hood. Well I am here to tell you that that’s just one side of the coin. Being a kid in the ghetto is allot like being a kid anywhere. 99% of the time a child is free to play, run, do flips on mattresses, all kind of really fun stuff. When I was little I had an imaginary friend named Marlow but after a week of playing with him I had to end our friendship because his dumb ass got my bike stolen. I told him I had to pee and to watch the bike for a minute till I came back outside, of course when I came back the bike was gone. Marlow aint seen a dam thing of course, just like everyone else in the hood. Criminals in the hood don’t kill a witness, that’s a myth; if there ever was a such thing as a witness in the hood then the gangsters hunted them to extinction. I always knew he set me up to get my bike stolen, can’t trust nobody in the hood, not even when they are imaginary. I got a whooping over that bike, shoot.

I have been allot of different places in my life but none compares to the good-times that the ghetto provide, I’ll give you a few examples of the differences. If you live anywhere other than the ghetto and smoke cigarettes but don’t have no money, well you just out of luck. If you live outside the ghetto you have to worry about terrorism and crap and if you need a stick of margarine but no loot you just have to eat dry toast. If you live in the ghetto you can walk 100 feet in any direction and a terrorist will sell you a cigarette from a open pack for a quarter and a stick of butter for 50 cents. You can even trade in pornographic books at the 1/10th price bookstore. And one of the best perks of ghetto life is that everything is always for sale in multiples. In white area stores one soda is $1.19 in the ghetto they are either 2 for a dollar or 3 for a dollar. White areas sell meat separately for high prices, in the hood you take $50 and get a 25-pound meat deal with meat for every dam meal ever invented. You get breakfast sausage, lunchmeat, dinner ¼ fryers and even late night snack wieners. They even throw in something free like a two-liter soda or a dozen eggs, and then they deliver it. The ghetto is the best place in the world before some ignorant nigar come and mess it all up.

That’s the bad side of the ghetto and 90% of the reason for all the negativity, poor black folks hate anybody that isn’t as poor as them or as dumb as them, it don’t really matter what you got that’s better than them, you will be hated for it. If you got a slick car, you better have a slick gun. If you got a slick house, you better have a slick gun. If you have a slick gun, the way police fill quotas you better have a slick lawyer or plan, aint no such thing as “home security” in the hood as far as police are concerned. You got a gun, you got a problem, but we got so many problems anyway that we all still got a gun in our house. In the ghetto it ain’t but a few hard fast rules, 1. if you hear shots and you aint shooting….run. And 2 if you new to a hood know everybody or nobody, aint no middle, cause you will have to choose sides sooner or later. And its real easy to get shot because everybody got something to prove, never did nothing to nobody don’t mean nothing in the hood. And some people can be as ignorant as the first artificial intelligence beta software.

The other day I saw a little 3-year-old girl almost get ran over by a car. The mother was 50 feet away on the phone and apparently forgot she had kids crossing the street with her??? But it turned out good because the baby did not get hit, but the thing I remember is that the mother was looking at the driver like it was his fault, if looks could kill that man would have died right there jolly on the spot. That’s the type of crap you have to deal with in the ghetto. Misery truly loves company down here, but happiness gets shared easier too so it all evens out.
